Well records
How deep is my well?
The quickest way to learn your well depth is the state well record. Here is how to find it, and what is typical in each local ZIP.
This is a referral line. When you call, you are connected with an independent local well pump company.
Look up the record
Arizona registers wells to the parcel they sit on. Search the ADWR Well Record Search (opens in a new tab) by parcel number, location or owner name. The record may list the drilled depth, the driller's log, the casing and sometimes the pump.[source]
Typical depths here
The table below shows median drilled depth by ZIP, from ADWR records compiled by Arizona Well Data. Your well can be quite different, so treat these as context, not a guess at your well.[source]

Why depth matters for a repair
The deeper the well, the more pipe and wire sits above the pump. Deep pumps take more equipment and time to pull. Knowing your depth helps the company plan.
If you cannot find it
If the record is under an old owner or parcel, try searching by the previous owner. A pump company can also measure the water level and may find the pump depth when it is pulled.
Depth versus water level
Depth is how far the well was drilled. The static water level is how far down the water sits when the pump is off. Both matter. In Prescott Valley 86312 the median static level is 360 ft, while in Humboldt 86329 it is 85 ft.[source] The pump has to sit below the water, so both numbers shape the job.
Questions
Is my well depth the same as where the pump sits?
No. The pump is set somewhere above the bottom, below the water level.
Why is my neighbor's well a different depth?
Wells are drilled at different times to different depths. Records vary even on one street.
Can I measure it myself?
Leave that to a pump company. Opening the well can let in contamination.
